Mentor Coaching Evaluation

The LDPA Mentor Coaching process is designed to provide aspiring coaches with structured guidance, personalized feedback, and developmental support to refine their skills according to ICF Core Competencies. Through a combination of individual and group mentor coaching sessions, participants receive comprehensive feedback and opportunities to deepen their coaching mastery.

Mentor Coaching Structure

  • Total Hours: Each participant completes 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over the course of the program.
  • Format: Mentor Coaching is provided through a blend of individual and group sessions.
  • Individual Sessions: Each participant receives at least 3 hours of one-on-one mentor coaching to focus on personal skill development.
  • Group Sessions: The remaining hours are conducted in small groups, allowing participants to observe and learn from peer feedback while engaging in active coaching practice.
  • Group vs. Individual Mentor Sessions: The mentor coaching structure combines both group and individual sessions to cater to diverse learning needs. Group mentor sessions foster collaborative learning, allowing participants to observe peer coaching sessions, share feedback, and discuss challenges and best practices. Individual mentor sessions are focused on providing personalized feedback, addressing specific areas for improvement, and ensuring the coach’s individual growth. This combination ensures a balanced approach to development, addressing both collective insights and personal coaching needs.

Mentor coaching Content and Approach

Focus on ICF Core Competencies: Mentor Coaches guide participants to demonstrate and refine their skills across all eight ICF Core Competencies, providing targeted feedback that reinforces competency alignment.

Feedback and Reflection: Mentor Coaches provide detailed feedback on recorded sessions, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their performance, ask questions, and integrate feedback into future sessions.

Live Practice: During group sessions, participants engage in live coaching practice, receiving in-the-moment guidance on techniques, questioning styles, and active listening. This experiential approach fosters greater confidence and competency in real-time coaching situations.
